But, is it possible to grow and continue providing service without marketing?

Physical therapy is different from other medical practices. Usually, they do not come to us directly, they take one of these five routes.

  1. Referred by a doctor or a health practitioner directly to you.
  2. Few referred by one of your old patients.
  3. Referral by your personal contact.
  4. The doctor advised for physio, but they are lost where to go.
  5. Self-referral trying to search for good physiotherapist.

Once they come to us, they get to learn that besides their present complaint it can help them in many different ways. This way, they become regular visitors.

Fact is, getting the first patient for the clinic where most of the newbie struggles a lot.

How patient searches for you?

If a person is trying to self-refer himself the first thing they do is Googling. They search for it online.

Yes, you got my point. You have to have a strong online presence to shine out of the crowd. And the good news is that it is easy and all comes for free. In today’s era, an online presence is a very crucial strategy for physiotherapy marketing.

Well, my first tool to getting started is listing your clinic in Google Business

Tool 1: Google my business

Registering in google my business is the easiest and free way to get yourself discovered. Whenever someone searches for a physiotherapist in their town, google displays the result with all the listed business.  

For example, someone looking for a physiotherapist in Rourkela will search “Physiotherapist Rourkela” in the search bar. Below is the screenshot form this search.

Try this for your city and you will find your competitor.  

TIPS: Encourage your satisfied patient to leave a comment. The page with more comment tends to attract more attention.   It’s not that difficult to get started with Google small business.

4 Secret Physiotherapy Marketing Ideas

Tool 2: Local search website/ directory

Local search website/ directory tends to dominate the google search result. Sounds confusing? Ok! give a closer look to box 3 on the screenshot above almost every search result is related to a single website “Just Dial”.  

Observe it for your location. It might be different from mine but popular search website in India is:  

  • Justdial.com
  • Askme.com

It varies from country to country. For the people of the United States it’s, Bing, Yelp to name a few. What you need to do is, open these sites and register your clinic with proper address and appropriate category.

You can register for free. The banner(1) and the first position (2) are paid positions, I suggest starting as a free listing. You may get paid listing as you grow in your career.

Tool 3: Facebook fan page

Almost everyone is there on Facebook, it’s a different kind of world altogether. Like facebook group, it also comes with features of “Facebook fan page” Its very easy to create a “facebook fan page” and this is why it is also very competitive to get visibility at facebook.

It’s very difficult to motivate others to like/follow your page. It is because it’s getting oversaturated. But, if you provide valuable content to your fan on a regular basis, you can increase the likes. It comes with many features, like:

  • Creating an offer
  • Creating events- you can announce events to your audience.
  • Shop
  • And lot more

It has tremendous effect in long run. Just observe how a corporate hospital in your city do this.
