Foot drop since age of 2 due to Hemiparesis
Answer Question♥ 0 |
Hello Need your respected opinion about calf lengthening surgery & tendon transfer surgery. Suffering from foot drop and wrist drop in the right side since the age of 2 and was constantly doing physiotherapy until I was 13-14 years old .
After that I couldn’t able to do physio regularly and now I like to improve my condition better I am currently 27 yo and looking for a procedure option (if possible) we met different doctors in the last 4-5 years and have not been able to get a definitive answer for my situation We recently took a nerve conduction study to my right calf muscle to check the strength and possibilities of doing tendon transfer, but doctors have suggested not to go with the procedure Looking for a second opinion and am happy to share all my related documents via email

Hi, dealing with foot and wrist drops is challenging, especially in an old case like yours. Calf lengthening surgery is helpful for TA (Tendo Achilles) tightness. In TA tightness, the foot goes into plantar flexion, which looks like a foot drop. The actual cause of food drop is weakness or paralysis of the tibialis anterior muscles, the muscles on the front of the lower leg. (read my article on foot drop here) Marked as spam
