How to use a non-contact infrared thermometer? As the name suggests, a non-contact thermometer takes the surface temperature of the human body or any other object without touching or coming into contact. Just point the thermometer to the subject, and it will take the reading. It does so by gathering the information by sensing the heat radiation coming from the surface.
But, many of us who have never used an infrared thermometer might get puzzled about how to use it at home. In this article, I will guide you through a step-by-step method to use a non-contact infrared thermometer. But before we start, let me give you a hint that it’s very easy to use.
How to use non-contact infrared thermometer?
For your easy understanding, I am going to teach you the whole process by using a thermometer from Fora company, and its model number is Fora IR 42. I have this model with me, and I use it for my family.
I will unbox it and walk you through the step-by-step process of setting up the device, how to use the different modes and how actually to use it. Let me mention that the Fora IR 42 Forehead Thermometer is 100% made in Taiwan and not made in China. This thermometer works on non-contact infrared technology, and the beauty of this product is along with body temperature, it is capable of measuring the surface temperature of any object. So, let’s get started (if you wish, you could watch this video instead).
Unboxing of Fora IR 42 Forehead Thermometer
Before we start, Fora is a Taiwanese company with other health products. I have also reviewed its digital blood pressure monitor, and its build quality is very good. So, friends, this is the box of fora IR 42 forehead thermometers. At first glance, the box looks very beautiful, and on the side of the box, it is indicated that we can take body temperature on the forehead. We can also use this device to take the surface temperature of the object.
On the backside, you will find the content list inside the box. Inside the box, there is
- Forehead thermometer,
- An operating instruction,
- The warranty card and
- Two alkaline triple-a batteries.
The thermometer is beautifully designed, and it is very easy to grasp; there is a display on the top with a big switch below it. On the right side of the device, there are two switches, one for memory and another to switch between different modes.
It also has a cap to protect the main radiation area when not in use.
A step-by-step method to use non-contact thermometer
So let us learn how to use this machine properly at home and let me tell you that it is very easy to use. Before that, we have to place the batteries in the battery slot on the backside, and then the device is ready.
Step#1 Switch on the device
Once you have placed the batteries, switch on the device by pressing the centre button just below the display.
Step#2 Select the mode
Then we have to select the mode, which depends on the subject whose temperature you will take.
This thermometer has three modes:
- Adult mode: to take a reading of an adult individual,
- Child mode: for infants and children,
- Surface mode: it’s for measuring the surface temperature of an object.
So, the adult mode is to take the temperature of an adult person, the children mode is to take the reading of a child, and the surface mode is to take the temperature of any surface of an object.
To change the mode, use the mode button on the right side of the device.
Now, it is in the adult mode, as you can see, the face that is in the adult mode. To change the mode, press the mode button for 2 seconds; it will shift to the surface mode, and then press it again to toggle it to child mode (which it displays as a smile).
Select your model accordingly.
Step#3 Take Reading
Here, I am going for adult mode. By following the above method, choose your desired mode and remove the protective cap. Then, place the Fora IR42 forehead thermometer on the centre of the forehead at roughly an inch distance. You don’t have to make skin contact with this thermometer; you must place it just two inches above the skin level.
Then press and release the centre button. With a quick beep, it will automatically take the reading.
Similarly, you can use it for infants & children by selecting the child mode. Just point this thermometer just 2 inches above the skin level at the forehead or the temple area of a child without any hairs and just press & release the centre button.
That’s it, so simple! Isn’t it? Just try this to take the surface temperature of your coffee mug by selecting surface mode.
Final comment
It is so simple to use, and it is very easy to handle it. See, you can easily grip it and point it like this. It is very easy to use, and it is a must-have product for every home, so I hope you like this product. For more details, I have given links below to learn more about this product.
